Parent responsibility to Improve the Child's Basic, Technology, Sport, Arts & mental skills.
Skills and ideas that will help your child become a good listener:
Good listening skills must be modeled and practiced first by the parent if it is to become a part of the child's character. The power of parental example cannot be overstated. If you want your child to be a good listener, you must be a good listener yourself, thus providing a mirror daily of what your child can become.
In order for these skills to be come part of the childs behaviour, naturally they must be identified and practised regularly. Parents need to respond by positive non-verbal messages given away freely, direct eye contact, open facial expressions and touch. How you respond also has great value and just repeating what the child has just said or asking a question relating to it shows that you appreciate the childs converstation.

Be patient people tend to think faster than they think. Children have limited vocabularly and experience in talking and they can often take much longer than adults to relay what is on their mind. Avoid cutting children off before they have finished what they want to say. Ask questions to help the child to clear their thoughts, helping them with words or supplying a phrase is very helpfull but whatever you do dont finish the child's sentence.
Make sure that you make time in your home for family conversation and encourage your child to share his/her feelings and experiences. Make this conversation time a special time so in years to come the child remember the family talks as a good experience.
You should have the child's complete attention before speaking so make sure there are no background distractions such as t.v. computer etc. - When you are addressing a child look them in the eye and use their name, request the child to repeat what you have said to ensure full understanding, however do not repeat directions or instructions too much.
A child who has developed good listening skills have distinct advantages over others who lack these skills as adults. - They are usually high achievers in school and have successfull social relationships. - Listening is a stepping stone on the path for making a sharp brain and not forgetting that a child who can communicate has a stronger self worth.
