Parental Responsibility

Your child must get the best educational possible in order to be a success in the future. As a parent it is your duty to give your child the best education from helping with homework to helping with exams, you must take care that your child will develop good learning skills thus making it easy to improve them as he gets older.

Make sure your child has a separate room for his homework  and studying for exams or in the very least a quiet place where siblings will not disturb him.  There should be good lighting and if possible no T.V. and Computer to distract him.  However some children like background music, which is fine as long as it is calming and not too noisy,  Help your child to determine what is his studying style.

If you are incapable to help your child with school work then if possible give him help with private lessons or older school children who can help.  Determine a time which is best for your child to do homework and make sure that plan is adhered to every day, making sure that homework is done before playing with friends.  However children do sometimes want an hour or so to unwind when then come home from school to watch t.v. and play on the computer and this is ok - if you decide together what is play time and what is work time, dont forget most child games are very educational and can help to improve skills.

Some people need a dead-line  in order to do their tasks, this is a  way  to check if your child can stand  his homework and assignments plan, if not, set a dead-line for every task, and make it crystal-clear to your child that he must do the best he can to meet his dead-line.

Teach your child to plan his assignments into smaller steps and manage his time in the best way.

Make sure your child manages, writes and sorts his assignments.  Even buy him a diary so he can write down any notes and assignments he may  have, this way he will not forget them and as he finishes a task he should mark it so it is clear what is left to do and what is finished.  Be patient, and help as much as you can, it's your responsibility as a parent, a lot of a child's development is enhanced by child magazines and not forgeting education on line and childrens books..
Be careful not to pressure your child too much it's not healthy and also not good for your relation-ship
